The Town of Yungaburra
One of the first you notice when you enter Yungaburra is the many colourful hanging baskets as shown above. These are watered by the abundant rain or they have a hidden hose connections in which you can connect a hose.

The village of Yungaburra is surrounded by spectacular countryside, which has been influenced and shaped by many, now extinct, volcanoes. The landscape is stunning, with outstandingly beautiful natural attractions: crater lakes, waterfalls and World Heritage rain forest. This tranquil and picturesque village is situated 720 metres (2400 feet) above sea level. This ideal holiday destination is cooler than the coastal area during summer, and in winter, the mild days and refreshing nights are an excuse to enjoy a crackling log fire.
Peterson’s Creek meanders past the village and is a haven for wildlife. Watch for platypus, tree-kangaroos, wallabies and a large variety of birds (view map). Yungaburra, the heart of the Tablelands, was established in 1890, and is listed by the National Trust of Queensland with many of the original buildings still in use. Walk the Old Town Loop and experience local history (view map).
Yungaburra is easily accessible from Cairns, being just over one hour travelling via the Gillies Range or drive from Cairns’ northern beaches via the Kuranda Range.
