We went down with Discover Australia. They flew us down from Brisbane to Sydney (= 740 kms.) and we were personally picked up and taken to the main railway station in Sydney. We then caught a train (the Indian Pacific) that travelled on the Trans-Australian Railway to Perth (= 3930 kms.). It took three days of travelling to Perth.
When we left Sydney on the train and when left the suburbs behind, we entered the countryside. Initially there were many green fields of monoculture plantings. It then became dry bush which changed into low growing savannah country. See the photos below.
